Long-Lasting Pheromone Devices Ease Dog Stress

Study Chiang Mai, Thailand, September 24, 2025 – A 2022 study found that new long-lasting dog-appeasing pheromone devices reduce stress in everyday situations, lasting two to three times longer than standard products.

C. Nicolas, G. Espuña, A. Girardin, J. Fatjó, J. Bowen, and P. Monginoux (2022) tested two new pheromone-based stress-relief devices: the Zenidog™ collar (effective for three months) and the Zenidog™ gel diffuser (lasting two months). These were compared with reference pheromone products that typically last one month.

The study involved owners of dogs showing stress or anxiety in a variety of daily situations. Over two to three months, owners regularly assessed their dogs’ behavior and stress signs using detailed questionnaires. Results revealed significant improvements in fear-related behaviors and observable stress signs across all groups. Importantly, the new Zenidog™ devices were just as effective as existing products but offered extended duration.

The Zenidog™ collar also proved effective in puppies and dogs already wearing antiparasitic collars, broadening its practical use. The findings suggest that longer-lasting pheromone devices may enhance welfare by reducing the frequency of replacements, offering dogs and their caregivers a more sustained period of stress relief.

These results reinforce the value of pheromone-based stress management tools for dogs and highlight that product duration is a critical factor for improving both animal welfare and owner convenience.
